On November 24, 2024, a road rage incident turned into a shooting and crash on Hardin Store Road and Trailwood Estates Drive. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office promptly responded to numerous reports of vehicles being targeted with gunfire.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a gray Ford F150, the suspect’s vehicle, involved in a collision at the intersection. The driver was promptly apprehended by law enforcement. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Division conducted interviews with both the suspect and the victims.

Through their investigation, they determined that the driver purposefully crashed into the back of the victim’s vehicle before proceeding to fire multiple gunshots.

The victim’s car and two other vehicles ahead were hit by gunfire. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.

The police apprehended John Dyer, a 53-year-old resident of Magnolia, TX, in connection with an incident of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Following his arrest, Dyer was taken to the Montgomery County Jail, where he is currently being detained on a $50,000 bond.

A Texas man has been arrested and charged following a shocking road incident on Sunday in Montgomery County. Authorities allege 53-year-old John Dyer intentionally rammed into a stranger’s vehicle multiple times before opening fire on him.

The confrontation occurred just before noon at the intersection of Hardin Store Road and Trailwood Estates Drive. Initial reports to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office indicated that Dyer was shooting at cars in the area. Upon further investigation, deputies discovered that a man narrowly escaped being shot in the attack.

The victim, who requested anonymity, recounted the terrifying ordeal. He said Dyer rear-ended his vehicle three times before firing multiple shots at him.

“The next thing I knew, he started shooting at me, and my back window exploded. I was on the phone with my brother, saying, ‘He’s shooting at me. He’s shooting at me,’” the victim explained.

According to the victim, Dyer then attempted to drive alongside him but lost control after the victim swerved. The shooting ceased, and the victim managed to pull into a nearby Exxon station to check for injuries.

“One bullet went through the windshield where my head would have been if I hadn’t ducked. Another hit the back seat where my right shoulder would be, and my tailgate is full of bullet holes,” the victim said.

The victim estimated there were approximately 11 bullet holes in his truck.

While investigators suggested the incident may have been a case of road rage, the victim believes the attack was unprovoked and random.

“This wasn’t road rage. This dude tried to execute me on the road,” he stated.

Witnesses reported that Dyer sustained injuries in the crash. He was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Dyer is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
