Pueblo Man Sentenced After Being Caught with Meth and Loaded Firearm

A 51-year-old man from Pueblo, Colorado, has been convicted on drug and firearms charges after his arrest in May 2023. Dominick Jesus Salazar was apprehended outside a hotel room in Pueblo, where police observed him engaging in behavior consistent with drug dealing.

When authorities arrested Salazar, they discovered a loaded pistol in his pocket along with cash believed to be drug proceeds. Inside his hotel room, police seized 184 grams of methamphetamine, which was 98% pure.

Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Colorado, Matt Kirsch, emphasized the importance of keeping repeat offenders off the streets. “Our communities are safer with two more repeat offenders off the streets,” Kirsch said.

This case is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative, a collaborative program involving law enforcement agencies and communities aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence.

Salazar was convicted by a federal court of one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as one count of possessing over 50 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.
