On September 5th, Alexys Pinto, 23, allegedly enticed her boyfriend to a secluded spot on Houston’s South Side, under the pretense of watching the sunset together. However, once there, she unexpectedly brandished a firearm and began firing shots.
Elvis Muñoz vividly remembers the terrifying moment when his ex-girlfriend opened fire on him. He was struck in both hands, abdomen, and chest, and it seemed like his life was about to end abruptly.
After being arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a family member, Pinto found himself in Harris County Jail. At the time of his booking, the bail amount was set at $75,000.
According to court documents seen by The Post, Pinto was released from jail on November 15th after her bail was lowered to $10,000, which was subsequently paid.
Muñoz has criticized the court system for granting his ex-girlfriend her freedom just months after she allegedly attempted to kill him. The unexpected release has left him shocked and dismayed.
Muñoz expressed her deep anguish, stating, “To think that after dedicating three years of my life to caring for someone and loving them unconditionally, they would repay me with bullets and attempt to end my life.”
After the shooting, Muñoz, who used to work as a mechanic, now experiences limited movement in his hands. “I was in a life-or-death situation for hours,” he recounted, reflecting on the intense struggle.
Ana Fernandez expressed her anger towards the system for not fulfilling its responsibilities. She stated, “I am furious that the system is not doing their part just because someone mentioned she has mental illness.”
According to a form signed by Harris County Hearing Judge Sharon Chu on September 21, it was determined that Pinto has a mental illness or is a person with an intellectual disability.
Earlier on September 5th, Pinto’s frustration with Muñoz began when a client brought in a car for him to repair, leaving Pinto feeling irritated.
According to charging documents, Pinto was furious and tried to hit Muñoz, resulting in him grabbing her wrists and asking her to calm down.

According to reports, Pinto is said to have attempted to kick one of the dogs belonging to the couple in order to get it back inside the house. After this incident, she then requested Muñoz to accompany her and witness the beautiful sunset.
As they arrived at the field near State Highway 288 and Airport Boulevard, Pinto swiftly fled from the car while Muñoz called out, “Babe, babe.”
“Are you seriously asking me to learn about deer hunting? Do you honestly think I would go deer hunting in this place? Screw you. What the hell is wrong with you, treating me like that! You’re a complete idiot,” Pinto reportedly exclaimed, with the couple standing just five feet away from each other.
As both of his hands were hit, Pinto, who reportedly held the gun in a titled manner, continued shouting insults at Muñoz.
Muñoz recounted the terrifying moment when he sensed a sudden impact on his left hand. He vividly described the sensation of heat radiating through his hand. In the midst of the chaos, Muñoz found himself running while clutching his chest and stomach in pain.
Muñoz recounted his desperate attempt to escape, clutching his chest in agony as he stumbled and fell to the ground, blood flowing from his wounds. According to the arrest affidavit, Muñoz exclaimed, “Oh my God, it’s not my time! What did I do, what did I do?”
“I apologize, that wasn’t my intention. I realize I didn’t shoot you in the right spots,” Muñoz remembered Pinto confessing as she stood over him. “I didn’t mean for it to be like this. It was supposed to be quick.”
Pinto aimed his shot straight at Muñoz’s face, but his hands managed to block it, according to reports.
Muñoz persuaded his former partner to assist when Pinto ran out of ammunition. Engaging her support, she drove him to a gas station while maintaining a conversation with her father over the phone.
Muñoz recounted his heartfelt plea to his former partner, expressing his unwavering love and desire to continue building a future together. He emphasized his longing to grow as a couple, have children, and sought to appeal to her emotions in the hopes of persuading her to assist him.
An ambulance was waiting for the couple at the gas station, which was located three and a half miles away from the scene of the shooting.
Muñoz underwent several surgeries, including one to remove a bullet from his chest, after being transported to a hospital on the day she was bailed out of jail.
Muñoz expressed concerns about his partner, stating that she would exhibit jealousy, possessiveness, and a tendency to isolate him from loved ones. Additionally, he mentioned that she tends to hold grudges.
Pinto is currently under bail conditions that prohibit her from being in close proximity to Muñoz or his family. Additionally, she is required to wear an ankle monitor as a measure of monitoring her whereabouts.
