On February 3, 2025, the New Mexico State Police Agents made an announcement regarding the identification of a Hyundai passenger vehicle. The vehicle belonged to Rylee Drumm, a 27-year-old individual who had a felony warrant against them and was considered armed and dangerous.
According to the release, the agents tracked the vehicle to a Speedway gas station on Academy Road NW. They noticed an unidentified male inside the vehicle. The agents then made the decision to surround the vehicle and immobilize it. They ordered the driver, later identified as Osceola Miles (38), to show his hands. However, Miles refused to comply and instead started ramming the agents’ vehicles in an attempt to escape.
Less lethal munitions were used by agents to target the vehicle, prompting Drumm to exit the vehicle and be apprehended. Miles, on the other hand, persisted in his efforts to escape by continuously pressing down on the accelerator. In response, another round of less lethal munitions was deployed towards the vehicle, leading to Miles eventually surrendering and being removed from the vehicle. He sustained minor injuries from these munitions and received on-site treatment before being taken to a nearby hospital for medical clearance prior to his incarceration at the Metropolitan Detention Center. Miles faced charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer and resisting evading arrest, in addition to having two active felony warrants for receiving and/or transferring a stolen motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. Meanwhile, Drumm was booked based on her felony warrant.
