Texas truck driver allegedly murders Dallas woman
A 28-year-old truck driver from Austin, Texas, named Nasson Hazzard, has been found guilty of the abduction and murder of 25-year-old Caleiga Zangari, a U.S. Army veteran from San Diego, California.
Surveillance cameras captured the victim, a sex worker at the time, entering his semi-truck in Dallas on August 15, as reported by Justice.gov.
Hazzard’s journey from the pickup location to a nearby parking lot is evident in the cell phone records, which show that he spent 17 minutes there.
After making the necessary preparations, he embarked on a three-hour drive to a secluded woodland area adjacent to Highway 11. Taking precautionary measures, Hazard informed his boss that he would be unable to come in the following day due to illness. Despite this, he managed to fulfill his work obligations by completing a load before setting off.
The following day, he revisited the location accompanied by his wife. They took precautions by switching their cellphones and removing any location sharing apps. Meanwhile, his wife diligently searched for updates on the “Pittsburg Texas News”.
The investigation received assistance from various law enforcement agencies, including the Dallas Police Department, North Texas Trafficking Task Force, Texas Rangers, FBI, and Austin Police Department. The jury wasted no time in reaching a verdict, convicting him of a kidnapping that led to a tragic loss of life in just one hour of deliberation.
