Teen in Custody After High-Speed Chase Ends in Home Crash in Cedar Rapids
A 15-year-old boy was arrested Saturday night after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle that ended with a crash into a home.
Cedar Rapids Police reported that the incident began shortly before 10:00 p.m. when officers stopped a car for speeding. During the traffic stop, the driver fled in what authorities later confirmed to be a stolen vehicle. The chase came to an abrupt end when the vehicle crashed into a residence in the 2100 block of Bever Avenue SE, inflicting significant damage to the property.
The teen attempted to escape on foot following the crash but was apprehended by officers a short distance away.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released due to their age, faces multiple charges, including:
- Second-Degree Felony Theft
- Felony Eluding
- Speeding
- Failure to Maintain Control
- Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance
- Interference with Official Acts Causing Minor Injury
The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to assess the full extent of the damages caused by the crash.
