Around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, a vehicle outside of Mayflower Residence Hall caught fire.
A parked Chevy Impala, believed to be a red, early 2000s model, suddenly burst into flames right outside Mayflower on Dubuque Street.
According to Syanne Handy, a witness and first-year student at the University of Iowa, the Iowa City Police and Fire Departments swiftly responded to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire in a mere ten minutes.
The authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the driver or owner of the vehicle. Furthermore, there is currently no information available regarding the cause of the fire.
