Police: 2 Men Lead Officers On Chase To Louisiana With Firearm And Drugs

Two individuals were apprehended following a high-speed police pursuit that originated in Orange County and culminated in Louisiana. The intense chase concluded with the discovery and seizure of illegal drugs and firearms.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently investigating a chase that began around 10:10 p.m. on January 21st. The chase originated on Interstate 10 east near Farm Road 1135.

According to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, a Dodge Charger Hellcat was the subject of a traffic stop conducted by an Orange County trooper. The driver initially slowed down before suddenly accelerating and fleeing the scene.

The Louisiana State Police arrested a 29-year-old driver from New York who drove into Sulfur and was stopped by a tire deflation device. Additionally, a 32-year-old passenger from Louisiana attempted to flee but was also apprehended, as stated in the release.

According to the news release, authorities discovered approximately 41 pounds of marijuana, 1.3 ounces of cocaine, and a stolen AK-47 style pistol in the vehicle.

Both individuals are now facing further charges of felony in the state of Texas.
