Oregon And Washington Winter Storm Warning: Anticipating Up To 24 Inches Of Snow By Monday Afternoon

A powerful winter storm is expected to bring heavy snowfall and freezing rain to areas of Washington and Oregon until 4 p.m. Monday. This weather event will create dangerous travel conditions in the mountainous regions.

The National Weather Service predicts that the Upper Slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades, including Easton and Roslyn, will experience a significant snowfall. An estimated 8 to 18 inches of snow is expected, with the most intense snowfall anticipated on Saturday night through Sunday morning.

In the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon and the Northwest Blue Mountains of Washington, which include Meacham, Tollgate, and Ski Bluewood Resort, there is a possibility of receiving 12 to 24 inches of snow above 4,500 feet. Along I-84 near Meacham, there could be 4 to 8 inches of snow. Moving to Oregon’s Cascades, specifically La Pine, Sunriver, and Sisters, there is a forecast of 7 to 18 inches of snow and the possibility of light freezing rain above 4,000 feet. Additionally, sheltered valleys may experience up to one-tenth of an inch of ice.

If you must travel, it is advisable to postpone your trip if possible. However, if travel cannot be avoided, it is important to be prepared. Make sure to carry a winter storm kit containing essentials such as tire chains, food, water, and blankets.
