On Thursday, January 30, 2025, around 9:00 a.m., Nicholas Voutsas managed to flee from a medical transport van belonging to the New Jersey Department of Health. The van was en route to University Hospital in Newark, Essex County. In response, the New Jersey Human Services Police Department, the initial investigating agency, filed escape charges against Nicholas Voutsas.
The last sighting of him occurred in the vicinity of University Hospital, situated near South Orange Avenue and Bergen Street in Newark, Essex County. During his escape, he was donning a burgundy or maroon winter coat.
Voutsas, a 25-year-old Caucasian male, is a Tier 2 registered sex offender. He stands approximately 6’0″ tall and weighs around 260 lbs.
