Four inmates from Kentucky found themselves in a more intense situation while they were busy filling potholes during their morning shift. However, these individuals are now being hailed as heroes despite their criminal status.
Disaster struck when they were working along the eastbound lanes of Highway Six near Frederica Street in Owensboro, Kentucky. These individuals were from the Davies County Detention Center.
Under Isbill’s guidance, the inmates quickly moved towards the cab and cooperatively worked to free the trapped driver. Simultaneously, some of them swiftly grabbed fire extinguishers to extinguish the raging flames.
Using some scrap metal, the inmates successfully broke a window and freed the driver, Bryan Marcum. Miraculously, Marcum remained conscious and was quickly pulled to safety.
The inmates who played a crucial role in the rescue operation were Brian Boehman, Chalan Cox, Nicholas Edge, and Joshua Powell. Kentucky Today reported that a ceremony was held at the detention center to honor each member of the crew. Deputy Isbill, who displayed exceptional leadership and remained composed throughout the ordeal, was also acknowledged for his efforts.
Daviess Country Jailer, Art Maglinger, emphasized the immense bravery and selflessness demonstrated by these individuals who fearlessly put themselves at risk to rescue others. Their remarkable acts of courage and quick response in the face of the immediate danger posed by the fire and leaking fuel deserve utmost admiration.
