Identification made for motorcyclist killed in southeast Springs

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has identified the motorcyclist who tragically lost their life in a crash on the southeast side of Colorado Springs in early November.

Cody Zimmerman, a 29-year-old, tragically lost his life in a fatal accident on November 3rd. The crash occurred in the 1900 block of South Monterey Road, near South Circle Drive and the Hancock Expressway, as reported by CSPD.

When officers arrived at the scene just before 5 p.m. on Nov. 3, they were responding to a report of a crash between a car and a motorcycle. Tragically, they discovered Zimmerman, the motorcyclist, deceased.

According to CSPD, their investigation found that both the motorcyclist and the driver were traveling in the southbound lanes of Monterey Road at the time of the incident. The motorcycle collided with the side of the car, which was in the process of making a U-turn to head north.

According to the CSPD, the crash is believed to have been influenced by the speed of the motorcycle.

In 2024, Colorado Springs has witnessed its 47th fatal crash, surpassing the number of fatalities recorded in the same period in 2023, which was 45.
