A woman is speaking out after her daughter was tragically murdered by her partner in a domestic violence incident. Michele Hedt, mother of the victim, Alicia Michele Strambler, shared her heartbreak and the painful reality many domestic violence victims face.
“I knew that guy would kill my daughter, and he got her,” Michele said, reflecting on the violence that claimed her daughter’s life.
Alicia, 34, had been trapped in an abusive relationship, unable to escape, and had often reached out to her mother for help. Michele recalled heartbreaking calls from her daughter, one where Alicia was hiding in bushes barefoot, terrified for her life. In another call, Alicia, while at the hospital, described how her abuser, Myron Strambler, had beaten her with his fists.
The assault occurred Wednesday night at the Moonlight Inn located at 5212 Airline, where police found Myron Strambler, a registered sex offender, covered in blood. Authorities later confirmed that Alicia had died from the beating.
Michele shared that her daughter had been working on a book, hoping to help other women escape similar abusive situations. “If anybody can learn from my daughter’s death, that’s my point,” said Michele.
Alicia leaves behind two young children. Michele expressed her fear for her own safety, stating she is terrified Strambler might harm her if he is ever released from jail. Strambler has been charged with murder, and his bond is set at $250,000.
