A Burleson County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) employee was arrested Tuesday and charged with Improper Sexual Activity with a Person in Custody. Marshall O’Donnell, 29, voluntarily surrendered to authorities after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Sunday, November 24, the BCSO was notified of a potential inappropriate relationship between O’Donnell and an inmate. Following an investigation, it was determined that he had violated state laws. As a result, O’Donnell resigned from his position the next day.
The BCSO then obtained a felony arrest warrant on Monday, and O’Donnell turned himself in to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.
Sheriff Gene Hermes and BCSO officials emphasized the agency’s commitment to integrity, accountability, and upholding the law. Chief Deputy Bill Rios stated that the office will not tolerate any employee violating the trust placed in them and will continue to hold individuals accountable for their actions.
O’Donnell remains in the Brazos County Jail as of Tuesday morning, with bond set at $6,000.
