Arctic Blast to Bring Extreme Cold to US
A frigid Arctic air mass is set to sweep across the United States, bringing dangerously cold temperatures to millions of people. The cold front is expected to impact the northern Rockies and Plains on November 28th, before spreading southward and eastward across the Midwest.
Temperatures are forecast to plummet to as low as -40°F in some areas. This extreme cold could pose significant risks, particularly for those living in regions not accustomed to such low temperatures.
Meteorologist Cory Baggett from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center expressed concern about the potential impact on vulnerable areas, such as the Gulf Coast and northern Florida, where citrus crops could be affected by the freezing temperatures.
While record-breaking cold is not anticipated, this will likely be the coldest period of the season so far. Additionally, the Great Lakes region may experience heavy lake-effect snowfall due to the cold air.
As the Arctic blast approaches, authorities are urging residents to take precautions to protect themselves from the extreme cold.
