U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confiscated $6.2 million in cocaine from the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility.
On March 5, CBP inspectors picked a commercial tractor trailer transporting a supply of plastic wrap arriving from Mexico for inspection.
The use of nonintrusive inspection (NII) equipment and screening by a canine team resulted in the capture of 150 packets of alleged cocaine weighing 470.68 pounds stashed within the trailer. The cocaine’s estimated street value is $6,284,586.
The tractor trailer, narcotics, and driver were handed over to Texas Department of Public Safety police, who detained the driver and initiated a criminal investigation.
