14-year-old saves her parents and horse during truck wreck

Mia Gilpin, a courageous 14-year-old, became a hero when she rescued her parents and their beloved horse from a life-threatening situation. The family’s Ram truck and trailer had flipped into a canal during a hit-and-run incident on I-59, putting everyone at risk of drowning. However, thanks to Mia’s quick thinking and bravery, tragedy was averted.

Mia wasted no time after another driver swerved into their truck and drove away. As the truck and trailer landed upside down, she quickly sensed that the flipping had stopped. Without hesitation, she assured her parents that she would rescue them from the wreckage.

Without any shoes on, she bravely shattered a window to save her parents and swiftly moved them to safety. Following this heroic act, she fearlessly proceeded to rescue her beloved horse, Whiskey.

In a daring incident, the horse trailer suddenly became detached while in mid-air and ended up flipping over into the canal. Despite the dangerous situation, she calmly entered the back of the trailer and successfully coaxed her horse to walk out and jump into the water.

Police officers are currently in search of a white pickup truck that collided with the Ram and fled the scene, as reported by KBTX. Authorities believe that the truck may exhibit visible signs of damage.

The Gilpin family is devastated and saddened to discover that someone could inflict such severe harm and simply flee the scene without offering assistance. The other driver showed no intention of helping them in any way.

If their truck had flipped just 10 feet earlier, they would have found themselves submerged in the water. It would have been impossible for anyone to spot them until the following morning.

Fortunately, the family and horse escaped with only minor injuries and were able to walk away with their lives intact.

If you have any information about the incident or the white truck, Louisiana authorities are urging you to contact Crimestoppers at 225-344-STOP.
