An 18-year-old woman, Aaliyah Cain, is currently facing first-degree murder charges for allegedly firing a single shot in a fit of anger after a traffic crash, resulting in the death of the other car’s driver. As the case progresses, Cain is being held in custody until her trial.
According to prosecutors, on July 6, 2024, she was riding as a passenger in a car with three other individuals. The car she was in collided with a vehicle driven by Mychal Evans, a 47-year-old, in the 10500 block of South State, late in the day.
According to authorities, the crash immobilized the car she was in. She and her three buddies got out of the vehicle. Possibly feeling threatened, Evans made a U-turn to flee the situation.
At that point, Cain allegedly pulled out a revolver and fired one bullet, striking Evans on the upper left side of his chest. He died a short while afterward.
Judge James Murphy ordered Cain’s detention. He said the other three persons in the car recognized her as the gunman. Murphy’s detention order states that her phone data, video footage, and her own confessions all place her at the scene.
