Wisconsin Husband And Wife Sentenced To Federal Prison For Drug Trafficking

A husband and wife in Wisconsin have been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking charges, as announced by Timothy M. O’Shea, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin.

Yelitzia Ortiz Chaparro, aged 29, and her husband, Emanuel Gonzalez, aged 25, have been sentenced to three and eight years in federal prison, respectively.

Gonzalez admitted guilt on November 4 for possessing 500 grams or more of cocaine with the intention to distribute. On November 6, Ortiz Chaparro also pleaded guilty to distributing methamphetamine.

Between November 2022 and February 2023, Ortiz Chaparro engaged in three separate transactions, selling a total of 362 grams of cocaine to a source cooperating with the Drug Enforcement Administration. On March 17, 2023, Gonzalez and Ortiz Chaparro collaborated to deliver a pound of meth to the same source in Madison.

On May 9 and 15, 2024, Gonzalez engaged in the sale of 198 grams of cocaine to a second source. Later, on June 13, 2024, the same source reached out to Gonzalez to inquire about purchasing an additional pound of meth. The requested quantity was promptly delivered later that day.

Gonzalez was contacted by the second confidential source once again, this time for a purchase of two ounces of cocaine. As arranged, 56 grams of cocaine were delivered to Madison on that very day.

On July 18, 2024, authorities executed a federal search warrant at the residence of the couple in Madison. During the operation, law enforcement confiscated approximately one kilogram of cocaine, a loaded handgun, and over $18,000 in cash.
