Wind causes power outages and damage across Middle Tennessee

Update: According to the Dickson Electric System, approximately 3,000 customers are experiencing a power outage on Tuesday.

“Currently, there are nearly 3000 customers in the area experiencing a power outage. Our dedicated crews are actively working in the field to restore power as quickly as possible. We kindly request your patience and understanding as they navigate through the challenges posed by the stormy weather,” assured DES.

Earlier on Tuesday, there have been reports of power outages, damages, and even fires in the Midstate due to the strong gusts of wind.

A weather advisory known as a “First Alert Weather Day” has been issued, and it will remain in effect until Wednesday. This advisory has been issued due to the expected occurrence of strong winds, heavy rain, and the possibility of severe storms. It is important to note that power outages may occur during this time, so it is advised to keep your mobile devices fully charged.

A High Wind Warning has been issued for the Cumberland Plateau until 6 p.m. Wednesday. Wind gusts may reach speeds of up to 60 mph during this time.

A Wind Advisory is currently in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday for southern Kentucky and Middle Tennessee, excluding the Cumberland Plateau. During this time, wind gusts could reach up to 45 mph in these areas.

During the afternoon of Tuesday, heavy winds caused a power line to snap and fall onto a business on 10th Avenue in North Nashville.

Crews at the scene have reported that the entire block is currently experiencing a power outage, with wires scattered on the ground. The Nashville Electric Service is actively working on restoring power to the affected area.
