A restaurant at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport became the scene of a family dispute that escalated into violence, resulting in three individuals being shot and one person being stabbed.
On Christmas Day, an incident took place at a restaurant located outside the security checkpoint, as mentioned by Mayra Reeson, spokesperson for the Phoenix police during a news conference. According to a news release from the police, a man and a girl have been apprehended. The man has been hospitalized due to a stab wound, as believed by the authorities.
According to Reeson, airport police received a call about a shooting at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds at a restaurant in Terminal 4.
According to Reeson, the five individuals involved in the incident have a prior acquaintance with one another.
According to her, it is her belief that the situation started as a family disagreement and gradually escalated.
According to Reeson, a woman was transported to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Two men, including the man who was stabbed, are reported to be in stable condition.
On Christmas Day, an unrelated incident occurred at the airport where a man was apprehended and charged with bringing firearms upon arrival.
According to Reeson, the man received a text message alerting him about an active shooter at Sky Harbor. However, it turned out to be a false alarm and there was no active shooter situation. Despite this, the man still arrived at the airport with firearms. He has been detained and will face multiple charges.
According to Reeson, the man was involved in a confrontation with a police officer.
Operations at the airport were temporarily halted, but they quickly resumed. As of Thursday, the Phoenix police had not yet responded to a request for comment regarding both incidents.
