U.S. Attorneys indict Arizona man for making threats against President-elect Donald Trump

A Phoenix area man has been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly threatening President-elect Donald Trump and his family, according to officials from the United States Attorney’s Office.

Officials have identified Manuel Tamayo-Torres of Tolleson as the suspect in a series of criminal offenses. These offenses include making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm, threatening the president and successors to the presidency, and possessing a firearm while under an order of protection. This information was revealed in a statement released on December 20th.

In November, prosecutors claim that Tamayo-Torres made a threatening post on a social media platform. The post included explicit statements about causing harm to the President-elect and committing violence against his family.

A section of the statement mentioned, “Tamayo-Torres showcased a firearm in one of his posts, along with making threatening statements. Subsequently, his home was searched, and the firearm, as well as several others, were found.”

Tamayo-Torres was arrested in San Diego on November 25 and is currently being held in detention pending a hearing in the District of Arizona.
