Two individuals charged with trying to smuggle drugs into Polk County Jail

An inmate and a suspected accomplice are facing charges for their alleged involvement in a drug delivery attempt at the Polk County Jail in Livingston, Texas.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was notified on November 7 about a coordinated attempt to smuggle synthetic marijuana to a county jail inmate through the United States Postal Service (USPS). The incident involved multiple individuals, including 29-year-old inmate Kenneth Lamar Lynch from Conroe.

The sheriff’s office intercepted a package containing synthetic marijuana, commonly known as K2, before it could reach its intended destination. As a result of the investigation, they identified one of the alleged coconspirators as Michelle Rae Johnston, a 51-year-old resident of Montgomery.

Lynch faces charges of participating in organized criminal activity, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility. Meanwhile, Johnston has warrants issued against him for possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility, manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance, and engaging in organized criminal activity.
