A Tuscaloosa County School System faculty member was arrested on Saturday for allegedly engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a pupil.
Peyton Ramzy, a faculty member at Sipsey Valley High School, has been placed on administrative leave, according to an email sent Sunday to TCSS families, educators, and staff by Superintendent Keri Johnson. He will no longer be on the school campus.
“The Tuscaloosa County School System has high expectations for all faculty and staff,” Johnson wrote in the email. “We expect our employees to conduct themselves professionally and with honor. Please know that TCSS takes all reports of wrongdoing – whether by staff or students – seriously. The safety and well-being of students is our number one priority, at all times.”
Johnson stated that any new information regarding Ramzy’s charges would come from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
TCSS students are advised to use the “Speak Up for Safety” confidential tip line if they have any safety concerns about the school system. The tip line can be accessed at [email protected] or via phone at 659-734-2808.
“We strive to keep our families informed, and will share any other necessary updates, if they become available,” Johnson stated. “If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to the TCSS Superintendent’s Office.”
