On January 23, the Scottsville Police Department and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2004 Dodge Durango driven by 22-year-old Chelsea H. Bennett of Smithville, TN, for a traffic infraction.
She did not comply with officials’ attempts to stop her and fled the scene. According to the announcement, she led police on a multi-mile pursuit across Allen County.
During the pursuit, she collided with a police cruiser, causing substantial damage. Officers launched tire deflation devices, which immobilized her car.
The chase ended on Highway 100-W, nearly three miles west of Scottsville. Law officers seized her and transported her to the Medical Center of Scottsville for assessment.
The Allen County Detention Center is holding her without bond. She faces several counts, including attempted murder of a first responder peace officer and reckless driving.
Bennett has outstanding felony probation warrants in Tennessee.
