Tennessee DA report: 2,719 illegal individuals charged or convicted of crime in 3 months

The Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference (TNDAGC) has recently published its inaugural report on immigration data. This report presents information collected from law enforcement agencies regarding individuals who were arrested for a criminal offense and found to be residing in the United States illegally.

From October 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, the report has documented a total of 2,719 individuals in Tennessee who were charged or convicted of a crime while being unlawfully in the country. These individuals hail from 92 different countries of origin.

The report listed a total of 447 charges, all of which were classified as violent offenses. Among these charges were 11 homicides, making it a grave concern. When it comes to reporting data, Davidson County took the lead with the highest number of reports, reaching a staggering 796. Knox County followed with 242 reports, while Sumner had 212, Rutherford had 189, and Hamilton had 114. It is worth noting that no other counties reported triple-digit figures, emphasizing the severity of the situation.

DUI was the most commonly reported offense, with 654 cases, followed by driving without a license (549), traffic violations (533), and driving on a suspended or revoked license (243). In terms of violent offenses, there were 154 reports of domestic assault and 80 cases of aggravated assault, making them the highest reported offenses in total.

Mexico had the highest number of individuals involved in reported offenses, with a total of 892 individuals. According to the report, these individuals were charged with crimes while being in the country illegally. Guatemala accounted for 564 cases, followed by Honduras with 332, Venezuela with 130, and an additional 128 cases where the country of origin was unreported. El Salvador had 86 cases, Cuba and Nicaragua both had 37 cases, Jamaica had 25, and Romania had 16.
