Police in Palos Heights, IL successfully foiled an armed robbery at a local 7-Eleven store during the early hours of Friday morning. The suspects were swiftly apprehended across state lines in Indiana.
A Palos Heights officer on patrol near 135th Street encountered an armed man inside the store at 2:16 a.m. The suspect threatened the clerk with a handgun and quickly made his escape through the back exit. The officer witnessed the suspects fleeing in a black Chrysler 200, driving west on 135th Street.
The officer pulled over the vehicle, but the female driver decided to make a quick getaway instead of following orders to exit the car. This led to a high-speed chase into Indiana, where the Hammond police managed to intercept the vehicle. Both the female driver and the second armed suspect were apprehended by the officers.
The police have reported that the suspects focused on several places prior to reaching the 7-Eleven. However, their attempted robbery at this location was disrupted, resulting in no loss of money or merchandise.
Authorities suspect that the suspects may be connected to other crimes in different areas. The investigation is ongoing, and multiple law enforcement agencies are involved.
