Suspect Detained In Relation To Killing Of Kansas City Reporter In New Orleans For Super Bowl

A suspect has been apprehended in relation to the tragic death of a Kansas City reporter who was in New Orleans on assignment to cover the Super Bowl.

Telemundo KC made a heartbreaking announcement on Thursday, February 6th. Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old anchor and reporter who was on assignment to cover the Super Bowl in New Orleans, tragically passed away.

“We want the world to know that Adan was loved. We know that he was loved not just by us, but the community as a whole,” said Steve Downing, KGKC Telemundo’s general manager. “Really was one of those rising stars that we knew he was going places. That’s something in this tragedy that we mourn this loss not only because of the person that he was, but we knew that he had a bright future ahead of him.”

Kenner police made an announcement on Friday morning (Feb. 7) stating that they have apprehended Danette Colbert from Slidell. They discovered that Colbert was purportedly using Manzano’s credit card at multiple stores in the New Orleans region.

Investigators have examined security footage which reveals that Colbert was seen with Manzano on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 5. Additionally, the footage shows Colbert leaving Manzano’s hotel room later that morning.

Manzano was discovered unconscious in his hotel room in Kenner, according to police reports.

According to the police, Colbert has currently only been charged with property crimes, which encompass fraud and theft-related offenses.

According to the police, Colbert has been arrested multiple times in the past for various offenses. These include allegations of drugging men, stealing cash, and engaging in fraudulent activities involving credit and debit cards. Colbert’s arrest record also shows involvement in other financial-related crimes.
