State officials honored South Carolina veterans Monday afternoon with a remembrance ceremony at the State House.
The ceremony was held in collaboration with Wreaths Across America, a non-profit that honors deceased heroes over the holiday season by planting remembrance wreaths on their graves.
On December 14, people celebrate National Wreaths Across America Day, which involves laying thousands of wreaths on graves across the nation.
Every year, the nonprofit distributes thousands of wreaths on war memorial grounds across the nation.
At noon, First Lady Peggy McMaster attended a ceremony at the South Carolina Veterans Memorial on Gervais Street in front of the State House.
