Arizona workers earning the minimum wage will receive a raise on January 1st. The statewide rate will see an increase of 35 cents, bringing it to $14.70 per hour. With a full-time job at this rate, workers can expect to earn approximately $30,500 per year.
In 2016, Arizona voters gave their approval to an initiative that brought about an increase in the minimum wage. This increase is accompanied by adjustments based on the cost of living, and it takes place on an annual basis. However, it is important to note that this particular law does not extend its coverage to state or federal employees. Likewise, it does not apply to individuals who are employed by a parent or sibling, or those who provide babysitting services on a casual basis within the employer’s home.
Starting from January 1st, the minimum wages in Tucson and Flagstaff will exceed the state’s minimum wage, as determined by the respective city’s voters. In Tucson, the minimum wage will be set at $15 per hour, while in Flagstaff it will be $17.85.
