Winter weather is making its way to Southern Nevada, bringing with it the anticipation of rain and snow, according to the National Weather Service.
On Sunday night, the valley was still eagerly anticipating the predicted rainfall.
According to meteorologists, the prolonged absence of rainfall in the Las Vegas Valley has resulted in the roads becoming exceptionally slippery when it does rain.
Around noon on Sunday, a video captured the mesmerizing sight of snow flurries gracefully descending upon Mount Charleston. However, in less than two hours, the sunny skies returned, creating a stark contrast to the snowy scene.
Lee Canyon Ski Resort is all set for a fresh powder experience, with four out of its five chairlifts currently in operation. According to their reports, they have been blessed with 7 inches of snowfall since Saturday night.
At the same time, this weather system is also delivering long-awaited rainfall to Southern California, providing relief to areas that have been ravaged by wildfires.
In the neighborhoods affected by the wildfire, crews have been actively working to clean up and prepare for the potential risk of mudslides that may occur with the arrival of rain.
Officials in Los Angeles County provided an update to the victims of the Palisades fire on Sunday afternoon, causing a delay in the rainstorm.
“I want to get you back to see your properties as soon as possible. With the weather event, that’s delayed things. If the weather cooperates, tomorrow we’ll open the last two zones, and everybody will be able to return to their property,” said an LAPD area command officer.
