A man accused of attempted murder in South Carolina is in arrest following a high-speed chase through Gwinnett County.
The Gwinnett County Police Department tells FOX 5 that the Seneca Police Department contacted them to hunt for 20-year-old Emmanuel Williams on the night of November 27. Suspects suspected the 20-year-old of opening fire on his family following a domestic quarrel while driving a stolen vehicle toward Atlanta.
“During the altercation, the boyfriend, Emmanuel Williams, pulled out a gun and started shooting at the victims,” said Seneca Police Chief Casey Bowling.
Police claim that Williams shot his fiancĂ©e, her mother, and the couple’s 1-year-old child inside their home.
“To have a child shot is horrific. You never ever want to see a child hurt in any crime,” said Chief Bowling.
Officers located a black SUV they suspected Williams was driving near Sugarloaf Parkway and North Brown Road using Flock cameras and other investigative techniques.
“Our officers quickly utilized our Flock system. We have cameras everywhere. We were able to identify and locate the vehicle near I-85 and Sugarloaf Parkway,” said Cpl. Juan Madiedo, Gwinnett County Police Department.
When cops attempted to stop the vehicle, Williams allegedly crossed both lanes of traffic and attempted to speed away, resulting in an 80-mph chase.
A PIT technique eventually stopped Williams at the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway and Duluth Highway. He was apprehended on the scene.
The South Carolina man is currently incarcerated in the Gwinnett County Jail on charges of driving without a seatbelt, felony fleeing to avoid a police officer, dangerous lane change, obstruction of an officer, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, driving over a gore, speeding, and following too closely.
We anticipate extraditing him to South Carolina, where he will face more accusations.
