Sentencing Set For Gordon Teen Accused Of Killing Infant

Chloe Coplen-Anderson, the Gordon teenager charged with the murder of her newborn baby, has a sentencing date set for April 24th.

In August, Coplen-Anderson entered a plea of no contest to second-degree murder as part of a plea agreement. As a result, charges of first-degree murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and intentional child abuse resulting in death were dismissed.

In Nebraska, if someone is convicted of second-degree murder, they can face a Class 1B felony charge. The minimum sentence for this offense is 20 years in prison, while the maximum sentence is life imprisonment.

On November 6, 2023, police and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) from Gordon swiftly responded to an urgent call at Coplen-Anderson’s residence. The distressing report involved a young individual who had just given birth to a baby that appeared to be struggling to breathe.

According to the documents, authorities were met at the door by the teen’s father, who stated that the baby was stillborn. However, when the girl’s mother entered the bedroom, she stated that her daughter had hurt the infant. The officer stated that when he sought to offer first aid, he discovered the baby had been stabbed multiple times.
