Several school districts in Central Texas have made the decision to close their campuses in anticipation of upcoming winter weather. As the week progresses, more closures may be added to this list. Stay tuned for updates.
Many school districts have already scheduled closures on Monday, January 20th, in observance of the MLK Day holiday.

Austin ISD
Austin ISD has declared that all schools and offices will remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21 due to anticipated winter weather and the resulting road conditions.
Bartlett ISD
Bartlett ISD has made the decision to close on Tuesday, Jan. 21, declaring it as a “Bad Weather Day.”
Bastrop ISD
Bastrop ISD has made the decision to close all schools and facilities on Tuesday, Jan. 21. As a result, all before and after-school activities, as well as scheduled events, will be canceled or rescheduled.
The school board meeting scheduled for January will now take place on Tuesday, January 28th.
Del Valle ISD
DVISD has made the decision to close all schools and offices on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Additionally, all activities and athletic events scheduled for both Monday and Tuesday have been canceled.
Families and staff will receive further updates on Wednesday.
Dripping Springs ISD
Dripping Springs ISD has announced the cancellation of all classes and the closure of district offices on Tuesday, Jan. 21. This closure extends to all scheduled activities, events, and meetings.
Eanes ISD
On Tuesday, January 21, all schools and childcare centers in Eanes ISD will be closed.
Employees are advised not to come to work during this time. Custodial and maintenance staff will be given detailed instructions by their supervisors.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, all athletics, co-curricular activities, and rentals scheduled for Tuesday have been canceled.
Elgin ISD
Elgin ISD has decided to cancel all Monday evening events and suspend school on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Fayetteville ISD
Fayetteville ISD has announced the cancellation of all classes and UIL games for Tuesday, Jan. 21. A decision regarding Wednesday classes will be made on Tuesday.
Georgetown ISD
On Tuesday, January 21, GISD has made the decision to cancel classes for all students and close campuses. Additionally, all extracurricular events have been canceled as well.
Families will receive notification regarding any changes in operations for Wednesday, Jan. 22 via ParentSquare no later than 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, according to the district.
Gonzales ISD
Gonzales ISD has made the decision to cancel classes on Tuesday, January 21. Furthermore, classes will be delayed by two hours on Wednesday, January 22.
In addition, all athletic events and after-school activities scheduled for Monday and Tuesday have been canceled.
Granger ISD
The school district has made the decision to close on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Hays CISD
Due to severe weather conditions, the school district has made the decision to close schools and district offices on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Hays CISD will notify parents and students regarding the closure on Wednesday, January 22nd of next week.
Hutto ISD
Hutto ISD has announced the closure of all schools and offices on Tuesday, Jan. 21. In addition, all after-school activities and athletic events that were scheduled for Tuesday have been canceled.
Jarrell ISD
Jarrell ISD has announced the closure of its facilities on Tuesday, January 21. Consequently, all after-school activities and programs have been canceled as well. The athletic games will be rescheduled at a later date.
La Grange ISD
Classes and all UIL activities on Tuesday, Jan. 21 have been canceled by the district.
The decision that was scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 22 will now be made on Tuesday.
Lago Vista ISD
LVISD has made the decision to transition to a remote workday for staff on Monday, Jan. 20. Although Monday was originally scheduled as a student holiday, it was also planned as a professional learning day for staff, with presenters from outside the district.
LVISD announced that, in anticipation of adverse weather conditions, all district campuses and offices will be closed on Monday. During this time, a remote workday will be implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of all staff and students.
District officials are keeping a close eye on the weather conditions for the remainder of the week.
Lake Travis ISD
LTISD has announced that all schools and district offices will remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Additionally, all after-school activities and events scheduled for that day have been canceled.
LTISD has not yet made a decision regarding any potential changes to Wednesday’s operations. Families can expect to receive an update by Tuesday evening.
Leander ISD
LISD has announced the cancellation of all classes and activities on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
The district will assess the situation and promptly inform families of any potential impact on Wednesday’s operations.
Liberty Hill ISD
Due to the expected inclement weather, all schools and departments in Liberty Hill ISD will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Please note that extracurricular activities will be subject to weather conditions.
The board meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday night has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m.
Lockhart ISD
Lockhart ISD has announced that it will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. As a result, all activities scheduled for that day will be canceled.
The LISD School Board meeting, which was originally planned for Tuesday evening, has been rescheduled to Thursday, Jan 23, at 6:30 p.m.
The district will carefully monitor the weather and evaluate the conditions to decide on the operations for Wednesday, Jan. 22. In case any modifications are made, notifications will be promptly sent via email and text, following the Lockhart ISD website’s inclement weather protocols.
Luling ISD
Luling ISD has announced that it will be closed on Tuesday, January 21st.
Manor ISD
Manor ISD has made the decision to cancel all classes and before and after-school activities on Tuesday, January 21. As a result, all schools and offices will remain closed on that day.
The regular meeting of the Manor ISD Board of Trustees, originally scheduled for Jan. 21st, will be rescheduled.
The district will keep a close eye on the weather conditions for Wednesday, Jan. 22nd and will promptly inform families and staff of any delays or cancellations that may occur.
McDade ISD
McDade ISD has announced the cancellation of school and all school activities on Tuesday, Jan. 21. As a result, district games will be rescheduled.
Pflugerville ISD
Pflugerville ISD has announced that it will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
As of now, the district intends to resume operations on Wednesday, Jan. 22, and will notify families promptly if there are any updates or modifications to this plan.
Round Rock ISD
Classes in Round Rock ISD have been canceled for January 21st due to the winter weather. The district will be closely monitoring the weather conditions and will provide further updates on the operations for Wednesday.
Round Top-Carmine ISD
The district has announced that it will be closed on Tuesday, January 21st.
Keep an eye out for updates on Wednesday, Jan. 22 regarding classes, as parents and students are advised to stay informed.
San Marcos CISD
On Tuesday, January 21, all campuses and offices of SMCISD will be closed. This means that all after-school/UIL events will also be canceled.
SMCISD will be monitoring weather conditions throughout the weekend to make a decision for Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Schulenburg ISD
All Schulenburg ISD activities and school will be canceled for Tuesday, Jan. 21, according to the district’s announcement.
The district will keep a close watch on the weather conditions and will communicate with parents through ParentSquare and Facebook regarding a decision for Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Smithville ISD
According to the superintendent, the district has made the decision to close on Tuesday, Jan. 21. This is in response to the forecast for ongoing freezing weather and as a precautionary measure for the safety of all students and staff.
All UIL sporting and academic events have been canceled, and we will provide updates on rescheduling these activities.
The district will keep a close watch on the weather and provide updates for Wednesday.
Taylor ISD
Taylor ISD has cancelled all classes and before and after school activities for Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Thrall ISD
Thrall ISD has made the decision to postpone the commencement of school on Tuesday, Jan. 21st, by a duration of two hours. Additionally, there will be a two-hour delay for the bus services.
The district assures that in case of unsafe weather conditions, they will provide updates on Monday evening regarding any potential delays or cancellations.
Waelder ISD
Waelder ISD will not be open on Tuesday, January 21st, but will resume classes at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22nd. Buses will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday.
Wimberley ISD
Wimberley ISD has announced that it will be closed on Tuesday, January 21st. As a result, all extracurricular activities scheduled for that day will either be rescheduled or canceled.
We have not yet determined the plans for Wednesday, but we will share them with you before Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Charter schools in Austin are currently facing the difficult decision of whether to close.
Austin Achieve
Due to the observance of a holiday, all Austin Achieve campus locations will remain closed on Tuesday, January 21st.
Chaparral Star Academy
Chaparral Star Academy will not be open on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Doral Academy of Texas
Tuesday, Jan. 21 is a designated non-school day.
Goodwater Montessori Public Charter School
Goodwater Montessori School has made the decision to close school on Tuesday, January 21st.
The Board Meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, Jan. 23 at 5 p.m.
Harmony Public Schools
Harmony Public Schools-Central Texas District has made the decision to close all campuses on January 20-21. This closure includes the following campuses:

The PHS & TexasWorks Austin Wells Branch event scheduled for Jan. 21 has been canceled.
Wayside Schools
Wayside has announced that all of its campuses will remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
List of college/university closures
College districts and universities are shutting down because of the severe weather conditions.
Austin Community College
On Tuesday, Jan. 21, ACC will be closed for the day. This closure includes the cancellation of all in-person and remote classes, as well as any scheduled work.
ACC will communicate updates through its Emergency Alert system and will also post them on the college’s homepage as well as on Facebook and Twitter.
Southwestern University
Due to inclement weather, the University has made the decision to close campus and suspend normal on-campus operations on Tuesday, January 21. For more details, please click here.
Texas State University
Texas State University has announced that it will remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21, due to anticipated weather conditions.
Classes on the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses, both in-person and online, have been canceled on January 21st.
