Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen commended the federal court order that halted the sale of materials originally designated for the southern border wall prior to President-elect Donald Trump assuming office.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey engaged in a legal battle following a report that questioned the legality of the practice. Ultimately, a federal judge ruled in favor of the attorneys general, preventing the Biden administration from auctioning off the materials. In Arizona, the current administration has allowed piles of these materials to accumulate without taking further action.
According to a statement given to The Center Square, there is gratitude in Arizona for the court’s intervention in preventing the Biden administration from selling border materials at a significantly reduced price. It is believed that the administration was disregarding Congress’ intention to ensure border security. Attorney General Paxton’s efforts in securing the border have resulted in a significant victory not only for Texas but for the entire country. This highlights the importance of conservative attorneys general in matters of border security.
According to a report from The Daily Wire, Trump hailed it as a significant victory for America, while the Biden administration has agreed to halt the sale of these materials sourced from Texas and Arizona.
“The Judge has also initiated an investigation into the illegal sale of these materials, which will uncover the extent of corruption and anti-American sentiment among Radical Democrats. I am grateful to have the support of Texas and Missouri in this crucial case, and I commend Judge Drew Tipton for prioritizing the well-being of our nation. Safeguarding our borders and preserving the greatness of America are of utmost importance. MAGA!” Trump stated on Truth Social.
President Joe Biden’s administration put an end to border wall construction through an Executive Order when he took office. While there have been a few exceptions, this decision has sparked a range of opinions, with both criticism and praise, particularly in light of the significant influx of migrants entering the United States.
Despite efforts to secure the border, significant gaps still exist along the border, and there are expectations that construction will be resumed by Trump.
Arizona is expected to face significant implications in the coming year due to the border plans of the new administration, which includes the reintroduction of the “Remain in Mexico” policy.
In November, Proposition 314 was approved on a state level, granting non-federal law enforcement the authority to enforce border laws across the country. However, its implementation is contingent upon the outcome of a federal appeals ruling on a comparable Texas law called Senate Bill 4. The proposition was brought to the ballot by the Republican-majority state legislature after a bill with similar provisions was vetoed by Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs.
