Report: Illegal Migrant Crimes Total $166.5 Billion, Triple the Cost of Deportation Plan

Cost of Crime from Targeted Illegal Migrants Estimated at Triple Trump’s “Mass Deportation” Plan

An analysis by the Crime Prevention Research Center has revealed the significant financial impact of crime committed by illegal migrants targeted for deportation, estimating the total cost at $166.5 billion.

This figure, derived from data on 662,000 criminal migrants listed for removal by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), far exceeds the costs associated with President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed “mass deportation” plan, which has been pegged at approximately $58.3 billion.

The report, conducted by Crime Prevention Research Center President John R. Lott Jr., assessed the criminal victimization costs based on the known offenses of these individuals.

The analysis was featured in Real Clear Investigations and drew on data from the National Institute of Justice to calculate the cost to victims of crime committed by the 662,566 noncitizen offenders on ICE’s list.

According to Lott, nearly $153.8 billion of the total figure is attributed to murders committed by these individuals. Sexual assaults and related offenses add another $6 billion, while other sexual crimes contribute an additional $5.2 billion.

Lott noted that half of the crimes committed by these migrants are not assigned specific cost estimates, including offenses such as kidnapping, embezzlement, extortion, smuggling, and various traffic and weapon-related violations.

Lott compared this financial impact to the cost of Trump’s proposed mass deportation plan, which primarily focuses on removing migrants with the most serious criminal records.

The estimated cost of the plan, based on the removal of the most high-risk individuals, is around $58.3 billion, much lower than the estimated crime costs associated with those migrants currently targeted for deportation.
