Investigators believe the remains of a missing Westmoreland County woman were discovered Tuesday morning.
Deputies conducted a thorough search of land around Church Hill and Desha roads in Essex County at about 8 a.m. Just before midday, deputies discovered remains believed to be Gabriella Watkins, 19.
The last sighting of Watkins occurred on December 6, 2024. CBS 6 met with her grandma, Dorothy Breen, roughly three weeks after Emma went missing.
“She’s never been this long without talking to me ever,” Breen said at the time. “All of her friends that have responded to me tell me she always says, ‘I gotta call grandma to let her know that I’m here.'”
The grandmother of the missing 19-year-old Virginia woman is asking for answers.
We will transfer the remains to the medical examiner’s office for further examination.
Westmoreland County detained Abraham Medina, 20, from Oak Grove. He is charged with one count of transporting, secreting, concealing, or altering a deceased body. He received no bond.
The sheriff’s office would not specify whether Medina and Watkins had any connection but said further charges are pending.
“Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the family and friends of Gabriella Watkins,” the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
