Police: Teen Taken Into Custody In Evergreen Park After Shooting 15-year-old In Chicago

A 17-year-old boy faces charges in relation to a shooting incident that resulted in serious injuries to a 15-year-old boy in the West Englewood neighborhood last September.

The backstory: On September 22, 2024, the shooting took place in the 5700 block of South Wolcott Avenue.

On Wednesday, authorities apprehended a 17-year-old in Evergreen Park, who was found in possession of a car that had been reported stolen from the Ashburn neighborhood the day before the shooting.

He faced the following charges:

    • Attempted first-degree murder
    • Aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm
    • Unlawful use of a weapon – machine gun/automatic weapon
    • Unlawful use of a weapon – unlawful possession of a handgun
    • Possession of a stolen vehicle

The teenager is set to appear in a juvenile detention hearing on Thursday.
