A Florida pizza delivery worker was enraged over a $2 tip from a pregnant customer that she stabbed her more than a dozen times, according to authorities.
After dropping off a pie at the Riviera Motel in Kissimmee on Sunday, Brianna Alvelo, 22, became enraged when a client gave her a small tip. She returned with a friend and stabbed the woman, according to a press release from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook.
“Alvelo, who was armed with a knife, began attacking one of the victims,” the sheriff’s office said. “The victim was stabbed multiple times, and items were taken from within the room.”
According to NBC News, the victim was in the motel with her boyfriend and 5-year-old kid to celebrate a birthday.
The victim handed Alvelo a $50 bill for the $33 purchase, but when Alvelo couldn’t find change, the woman reached into her pocket and gave her only $2, according to the outlet.
Security camera footage captured Alvelo’s red Toyota driving into the parking lot for the delivery around 10 p.m. Sunday, and she returned about 90 minutes later with her masked partner.
According to police records obtained by NBC, the couple struck the victim in the back as she tried to shield her young daughter from the armed invaders.
The mother threw her daughter onto the bed and attempted to pick up her phone, but Alvelo smashed it instead.
Alvelo then allegedly stabbed the man 14 times before her gun-wielding accomplice called for them to flee, NBC reported.
The two fled while police were dispatched, and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital and classified in stable condition.
While receiving treatment, the woman discovered she was pregnant.
The following day, authorities apprehended Alvelo; however, her friend, who the police claim was carrying a pistol, remains unidentified and on the loose.
Alvelo faces charges of attempted murder, home invasion with a firearm, assault, and kidnapping, according to sheriff’s department documents.
“She was booked into the Osceola County Jail and has no bond,” police said. “This was an isolated incident at this address, and the matter remains under investigation.”
The owners of Marco’s Pizza, where Alvelo worked, issued an apology for the event.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred,” said the statement, obtained by WKMG-TV News this week. “The local owner and his team are fully cooperating with local authorities, who have launched an investigation into the matter.
“The safety and well-being of customers and team members are always our top priority, and we are taking this incident very seriously.”
