A man is facing charges for allegedly transporting drugs from Allegheny County to sell in Cambria and Huntingdon County in Pennsylvania.
D’Andre Richardson II, a 23-year-old resident of McKeesport, is currently facing charges following a report made by a confidential informant (CI) to the Office of Attorney General. The CI revealed that Richardson had been involved in drug selling activities, with a woman informing the CI that he was transporting drugs from Allegheny County to be sold in the Huntingdon County area.
The cooperating informant (CI) testified before a grand jury, revealing that they had engaged in a conversation with Richardson. During this conversation, the CI explicitly informed Richardson that he was involved in the drug trade within Huntingdon County. After gaining Richardson’s trust, the CI approached the Attorney General (AG) and offered to facilitate the purchase of substantial amounts of drugs from Richardson.
The CI and the police collaborated to purchase an ounce of cocaine and five bricks (each brick containing 50 bags) of heroin from Richardson. The agreed price for the drugs was $3,600. They scheduled a meeting in Ebensburg, Cambria County on May 8th.
The Attorney General had a conversation with the Pennsylvania State Police regarding the controlled buy. He requested them to carry out a traffic stop on Richardson while he was en route from Jackson Township to Huntingdon County.
On May 8, troopers pulled over Richardson for a traffic violation and proceeded to conduct a pat down. During the search, they discovered a brick of heroin in his front pocket and an additional four bricks of heroin in his pants pocket, along with an ounce of cocaine. As a result, Richardson was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
According to the affidavit, troopers also utilized a canine unit to conduct a search around the vehicle. Impressively, the dog detected the presence of more drugs inside the vehicle. Consequently, a search warrant was obtained and approved. During the search, troopers uncovered an extra bundle, consisting of 10 bags, of heroin concealed within the vehicle.
The bond for Richardson in Cambria County Prison is 10% of $150,000. He faces felony charges for conspiracy to deliver, possession with intent to deliver, and criminal use of a communication service.
The preliminary hearing is set to take place on January 6th.
