Four UPS employees in Arizona have been apprehended for their involvement in a scheme where they allegedly stole valuable packages worth thousands of dollars. The workers are accused of rerouting electronic devices and household items to their own residences by utilizing deceptive shipping labels.
The investigation was initiated by UPS following reports of missing packages from its warehouse in Mesa, Arizona, as reported by ABC 15.
In 2023, the facility faced a perplexing issue as packages sent to it failed to reach their intended recipients. UPS conducted an internal investigation, and with the assistance of the police, they uncovered a theft scheme that had been ongoing for approximately a year.
According to FOX 10, four suspects have been identified by the police for their alleged involvement in a scheme where they created counterfeit shipping labels using their own addresses. The suspects, namely Bo Arias, Casey Bedell, Jeremy Large, and David Panasci, are accused of rerouting valuable items such as electronics and household goods.
According to court documents, it was revealed that one of the suspects confessed to stealing items valued at around $5,000 to $6,000, citing financial difficulties as the reason for their actions. Another suspect admitted to being involved in the scheme and receiving packages at their residence since July.
During the execution of search warrants at their homes, law enforcement authorities reportedly discovered stolen merchandise valued at over $10,000.
Four individuals have been charged with theft of controlled property, and Arias and Bedell are also facing additional charges for fraudulent schemes. They have been booked into Maricopa County Jail, while the investigation is still ongoing.
UPS has chosen not to provide any comments at this time in light of the ongoing inquiry.
