Police: Armed Man Detained After Threatening To Shoot Up East Texas Walmart

Gun Barrel City Police have apprehended an armed individual who was making threats to shoot up a grocery store.

At approximately 6:33 on Saturday, the police were called to the Walmart on Main Street in response to a report of an armed individual threatening to carry out a shooting at the store. Upon arrival, an officer was able to locate and identify the suspect as John Thomas Martin, a 22-year-old resident of Kerrville.

Martin was discovered in possession of a black Glock 10mm semi-automatic handgun, along with three magazines, including one extended magazine. The combined ammunition amounted to 63 rounds of 10mm. Additionally, he was found wearing a ballistic vest concealed underneath his hoodie, ensuring an extra layer of protection.

Martin is facing charges of making terroristic threats and unlawfully carrying a weapon. Currently, he is held in custody on a bond amounting to $1,025,000.
