According to West Virginia State Police, two children were ejected from a rollover incident on I-79 in Lewis County last week while not wearing seatbelts.
Fazila Khan, 41, of Levittown, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with two counts of child negligence following the incident, according to court filings.
On Friday, March 14th, at about 5 p.m., police responded to a crash near mile marker 86 on I-79 in Lewis County and discovered a silver Nissan in the median. According to court filings, two children, ages 7 and 10, were ejected from the vehicle, leaving Khan stranded inside.
Police claimed the children were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident. However, Khan was wearing a seatbelt and suffered just minor injuries, including cracked ribs and blood in her stomach, according to court filings.
According to authorities, one youngster was flown and one was transported by EMS to Ruby Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
There is currently no word about the children’s condition.
On Wednesday morning, Khan was in the North Central Regional Jail. However, by 3 p.m., she was no longer listed.
