Pittsburgh Area Under Winter Storm Warning, Expecting Up to 10 Inches of Snow

Pittsburgh, PA is expected to experience winter weather conditions as a Winter Weather Advisory is set to begin at 1 a.m. on Wednesday. The area will see snowfall accompanied by strong gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), there will be heavy snowfall in certain areas of western Pennsylvania, with accumulations of up to six inches. The Winter Storm Warning zone, which includes parts of West Virginia, may experience even higher totals, potentially reaching 10 inches. Additionally, strong wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are expected, which will result in reduced visibility and dangerous travel conditions.

The advisory will remain in effect until 4 a.m. on Thursday. Residents are advised to be prepared for challenging driving conditions throughout the advisory period. Blowing snow could lead to drifts and unexpected whiteout conditions in certain areas.

It is recommended by officials to delay any unnecessary travel and ensure that emergency kits are kept in vehicles. For the latest updates, you can visit the NWS website or check with your local news outlets.
