Parker restaurant shut down after gas explosion and fire; no injuries reported

A Parker restaurant avoided any injuries when a gas explosion occurred, causing a fire. At approximately 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, South Metro Fire Rescue was called to the Mr. Ramen restaurant located near C-470 and Jordan Road.

According to Connor Christian of South Metro Fire Rescue, there was a gas explosion within a business establishment, resulting in an active fire inside the building. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a significant amount of smoke emanating from the front of the building.

According to firefighters, the cause of the incident was a cooking fire in the kitchen that involved gas. As a result, several individuals had to evacuate from the nearby businesses.

Christian stated that there is water on the floor as the sprinkler system did activate within this unit. Firefighters expressed gratitude that the fire did not spread, considering the windy conditions in Parker on Sunday afternoon.

Christian expressed gratitude that the fire in Colorado was contained to a single unit. He acknowledged the potential for a small fire to escalate rapidly in the dry climate of Colorado. Christian also shared his concern about the possibility of the fire spreading on a windy day. Overall, he emphasized the relief that the situation did not worsen.

Mr. Ramen will have to work closely with the building and health departments in order to reopen the restaurant. Unfortunately, the Beauty and Massage business next door had to close on Sunday because of damage to a connecting wall. However, the business on the other side of the restaurant is still open and operating as usual.
