$40 Million in Cocaine Seized from Semi Truck at Illinois-Iowa State Line
Authorities arrested two men after uncovering more than $40 million worth of cocaine inside a semi-truck during a traffic stop at the Illinois-Iowa state line. The bust occurred on Friday, November 29th, at around 2:10 p.m. in Henry County, Illinois.
The incident began when a state trooper conducted a vehicle inspection on a tractor-trailer traveling along Interstate 80. According to CBS News, the officer observed “numerous indicators of criminal activity” during the inspection, prompting a search of the vehicle.
Inside the truck, authorities discovered 1,146 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value exceeding $40 million.
The suspects, 27-year-old Vanshpreet Singh and 36-year-old Manpreet Singh, both from Ontario, Canada, were arrested at the scene. They face serious felony charges, including possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver, and cocaine trafficking.
Both men are currently being held in the Henry County Jail as they await their upcoming court appearances. This major drug bust highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat trafficking along key transportation routes.
