Ohio Man Sentenced To More Than 10 Years For Methamphetamine Possession In Madison County

An Ohio man has been sentenced to 10 years and three months in prison for being found in possession of around two pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in April 2024.

Michael Ivan Woodfork, a 49-year-old resident of Newark, Ohio, received a sentence of 10 years and three months with the Illinois Department of Corrections. This judgment was passed on September 30th and was based on his conviction for unlawfully possessing methamphetamine with the intent to deliver. The offense is classified as a Class X felony.

As part of a plea agreement, the charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, which is a Class X felony, were dismissed.

Originally, the case was presented by the Illinois State Police.

Court documents reveal that on April 30, Woodfork was discovered with over 900 grams of methamphetamine, indicating an intention to distribute.

During a routine traffic stop, a state trooper stumbled upon a significant amount of methamphetamine when a K-9 unit detected the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Upon searching the car, the trooper discovered over 900 grams, which equates to nearly two pounds, of methamphetamine.
