Hours After being released from jail on Monday for stalking singer Lacey Sturm in Murrysville, an Ohio man was arrested again after showing up at the woman’s home, according to court filings.
Anthony A. Carpenter, age 43, arrived at the house around 9:45 p.m. According to authorities, the incident occurred on Tuesday in a flatbed truck. He was carrying a McDonald’s bag. Someone told him to leave the house.
According to municipal police, they apprehended Carpenter and put him under arrest after catching up with him in the truck. The driver’s identity was unclear from court documents.
He faces charges of stalking, harassment, and defiant trespass. After serving more than six months in jail since his arrest in May, Carpenter pleaded guilty to stalking and defiant trespass for similar allegations at a court hearing on Monday.
According to court records, in the first case, investigators spotted him ringing a video doorbell and walking around the house, despite several “no trespassing” warnings displayed on the premises. According to investigators, he sent the singer letters and emails expressing his love.
Judge Timothy Krieger sentenced Carpenter to up to 23 months. Judge Timothy Krieger ordered Carpenter to serve an additional year of probation, return to his home in Rutland, Ohio, and avoid contact with the Flyleaf vocalist, her family, or her property. The court ordered Carpenter’s detention at a hearing on Thursday.
Westmoreland County Prison held Carpenter after denying him bail on the new charge. Online court records showed that he did not have an attorney. We have scheduled the preliminary hearing for December 17th.
