Ohio Man Armed With Smoke Grenade Detained In Hardin County

In Hardin County, Kentucky, an Ohio man is now facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after he was found armed with a smoke grenade. The incident occurred on Friday, January 17, when deputies from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office were called to Summit, Kentucky following reports of a man carrying what was suspected to be a live grenade.

According to the police, the suspect, Daniel Bennett, showed signs of being under the influence of narcotics and displayed mental health problems. Police further stated that Bennett became extremely angry, prompting deputies to use “less lethal force” when their efforts to convince him to seek mental health assistance were unsuccessful.

After Bennett’s arrest, it was determined that the device he possessed was a smoke grenade. Following this confirmation, the smoke grenade was detonated. Bennett received medical treatment at Baptist Health Hardin before being placed in Hardin County Jail.
