Nurse Accused Of Stealing Drugs From Patients At A South Carolina Nursing Facility

A nurse was arrested this week after allegedly stealing pain drugs from patients at a nursing facility in South Carolina.

Erin Homan, 34, was a nurse at Angel Oak Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Myrtle Beach when she was charged with stealing Tramadol from two patients in October 2024.

South Carolina state officials started an inquiry, alleging that Homan took the prescription for her own personal use and “deprived the two vulnerable adult residents of their prescribed medication.”

According to warrants acquired by sister station WMBF, Homan took oxycodone/acetaminophen from a patient as well.

According to officials, the nursing home has fully cooperated with the investigation.

Homan was charged with two charges of exploitation of a vulnerable adult and two counts of stealing a controlled substance. She was placed into the Horry County Jail on Tuesday, March 18, and released the next day after paying a $4,000 bond.

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office was handling the prosecution.
